Strawberry man jailed after high speed police pursuit

Kobe Nehring

FROM POLICE REPORTS

A Strawberry man was arrested  March 18 after he failed to stop for police and led them on a pursuit with speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour.

The green Mustang driven by Kobe Wayne Nehring, 20, failed to stop for a Cave City Police officer after he initiated a traffic stop in the city around 3:18 p.m. Nehring fled, first going down several streets within the city before entering Highway 230 where the speeds accelerated.

Cave City Police units were joined by Arkansas State Police units, attempting to intercept the pursuit.

The pursuit then turned on Grange road and entered Lawrence County.  The pursuit was called off due to the presence of school busses in the area.  Nehring was initially able to elude officers. Officers with the Cave City Police Department, Arkansas State Police and  Sharp and Lawrence County deputies remained in the area attempting to locate the suspect.

Authorities learned where the subject lived and guessed he could have circled back and went to his home in a trailer park at Strawberry, in Lawrence County.

Nehring run did not last long as he was located about 20 minutes later at his home. A short foot chase ensued before Nehring was arrested.

It is unclear why Nehring fled from police. He was taken into custody and transported to the Sharp County Detention Center. Nehring is awaiting the formal filing of charges and a  bond hearing in the case.
