Auto accident claims the life of Highland man

A one vehicle accident on rainy and wet roads claimed the life of a Cherokee Village man on July 27. Joey Gaskins, 34, was driving his 2011 Chevy on Highway 289 South of Highway 62 in rural Fulton County around 11:30 p.m. when it ran off the right side of the road and overcorrected coming back on the roadway, crossing the center line and running the roadway on the left side and striking a rock embankment.

Gaskins was a well loved member of the communities of both Highland and Salem and loved coaching baseball and football for his sons and nephews and other boys. Joey was a member of the Abundant Life Church in Cherokee Village, Ark. where he led Sunday Night Bible Study.
The accident was worked by Arkansas State Police Trooper First Class Jason W. Long.

Grave side services were held for Gaskins Mon. Aug. 1 at the Salem Cemetery.
