Fulton County man arrested for sexual assault of child

A Fulton County man has been charged with two counts of second degree sexual assault in relation to sexual acts with a six year old child.

Jansen Brock Smith, 33, of Salem was arrested on July 18 on a probable cause in the case. His arrest came after investigators with the Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children and the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department Investigator William Fawcett conducted an investigation after receiving information about the assault.

The child told detectives she had been forced to touch and “shake” Smith’s genitalia on at least two separate occasions. She also revealed Smith had came into a room she was sleeping within and “shook it really fast.”

A warrant was issued for Smith, after the victim revealed detailed information related to the appearance of Smith’s genitalia area that was confirmed by Smith during a phone interview with investigators.

Smith was arrested July 19 by Fulton County Deputy Blair Ables. Bond was set for Smith at $100,000 with reasons listed for bond amount that his only contact in Fulton County is his ex-girlfriend, he was charged with being Absent Without Leave (AWOL) while serving in the military, his father lives in Utah, and he has an existing arrest record. These make him a flight risk. At press time, Smith remained in the Fulton County Detention Center with a first appearance set for July 26.
