Fulton County Office of Emergency Management held a Plane Down training exercise for area first responders on July 16. The training was to assist first responders on protocols in the event of a plane crash. Fulton County has already worked two plane crashes this year. The mock plane crash scenario was set up with injured patients that were to be evaluated based on injuries. The Salem Greyhound Football team and Fulton County Search and Rescue served as the patients for the exercise at the Salem Baseball Complex. Fulton County Ambulance crews, Salem,Camp, Sturkie, Morriston and Glencoe Fire Departments,Fulton County Sheriff’s office and Survival Flight participated in the mock exercise. TL Davis and Baxter County OEM and 911 coordinator’s evaluated the exercise. Through this vital training exercise, the public can be assured in the event of plane crash first responders are prepared to work and assess the accident in a timely manner.
