The Highland Rebel Athletic Hall of Fame will honor its Class of 2022 with a reception sponsored by Centennial Bank at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2 in the A. L. Hutson Memorial Center on the campus of Highland High School. Honorees this year include Stephanie Harris Dunn, Coach Cindi Hansen, Terry Jamieson, and Richard Stowers. The public is invited to enjoy food from Rebel Timeout and visits with Rebel families and friends. Presentation of plaques again provided by FNBC Bank will be at halftime of the football game.
Stephanie Harris Dunn
Stephanie, an A.L. Hutson Scholar-Athlete, received countless awards at Highland High School including Regional MVP and All-State. She was an integral part of Lady Rebel basketball during a historic run: two regional championships culminating in consecutive state runner-up titles. She averaged 18 points and 6 rebounds in her senior year as the team achieved 14-0 in conference and 31-4 overall.
When Stephanie graduated from HHS in 1992, she received a basketball scholarship to Lyon College and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.
Stephanie and her family came home to Highland in 2013, and she has served as a volunteer in numerous roles to benefit the community and schools.
Cindi Hansen
Coach Hansen came to Highland in 1982; her career was successful. She was head tennis coach 13 years producing a combined 9 district championships, 5 state doubles runner-ups, 2 state singles champions, and one girls state championship.
Cindi assisted in girls basketball, coaching 7th grade for 20 years and high school for 12; the teams won several championships including a state title. Coach Hansen also started Highland girls Pee Wee basketball and worked with summer tennis.
Coach Cindi Hansen has always loved teaching kids sports and believes sports teaches more than just a game. She is thankful to God for the opportunities to do what she loved.
Terry Jamieson
Terry was named All-State and MVP when the Rebels won the 1979 state baseball championship; he was selected All-State in 1981 with the state runner-up team. He then played at Allen County Community College and Arkansas State University.
Jamieson coached at college and high school levels and retired as a Missouri educator in administration. He was named 2005 state soccer Coach of the Year and worked 17 years as an Athletic Director, all in Missouri. He received several other state and national recognitions.
Terry is honored to be a part of the Highland legacy and thankful to his coaches and teammates. “Champions wear red and gray. This is home.”
Richard Stowers
Richard graduated from Highland in 1982; he was an All-District running back, defensive halfback, and kick returner for the 1981 state championship football team.
He was also a two-time All-District, All-Region, and All-State outfielder for the 1981 and 1982 district and regional champion and state runner-up Rebel baseball teams. He holds the HHS record of 62 consecutive stolen bases.
Richard is a retired Cherokee Village firefighter (more than 26 years of service). He is most thankful for God’s presence and life’s blessings: support of family, coaches, teammates, and lifelong friends.
