Master Sergeant (R) Michael Long, Arkansas Veterans Advisor for Senator Boozman’s Office, will be the speaker at the FNBC Community Bankers Veterans Day on July 20 at the Fulton County Fair in Salem. FNBC will provide lunch for all Veteran’s and their spouse or care giver. Salem VFW Post 9777 will have the opening and closing ceremonies.
Master Sergeant (R) Long was born in San Leandro, CA and moved to Fayetteville AR in the fall of 1992. Graduating from Springdale High School, he enlisted in the Active Army as a Combat Medic in 1994. His assignments include 3/12 Mechanized Infantry, Baumholder Germany; 1/33 Armor Battalion, Fort Lewis Washington; and Aid Station NCOIC, 6/27 Field Artillery, Fort Sill Oklahoma.
In 2001, he joined the Army Reserve and deployed with 489th Engineer Battalion to Iraq in 2003 and again with the 688th Mobile Augmentation Company, (Harrison, AR) in 2008. Master Sergeant Long joined the Active Guard Reserve program in 2009 and held numerous positions while working full time for the Army Reserve. His duties included Company/Battalion Training NCO, Combat Medic Professional Development Course Manager and Instructor. His final assignment was with Army Reserve Legislative Affairs Division, working on behalf of the Sergeant Major of the Army Reserve. His duties included interfacing with members of Congressional staff, and Senior Leaders of all three Army Components.
In January 2022 he joined Senator Boozman’s staff, replacing COL (R) Anita Deason. His awards include the Combat Medic Badge, the Legion of Merit, and Meritorious Service Medal (2olc). He currently lives in Little Rock and travels throughout the state to talk with Veterans Service Officers and Veterans organizations on the Senator’s behalf.
The Fulton County Fair, FNBC Community Bankers, and Salem VFW Post 9777 and Auxiliary invite all Veterans to attend this special day held in their honor. It will be held in the air-conditioned Salem Civic Center. We will have Golf Carts to provide transportation from the parking areas to the Civic Center.
