Students across the Highland School District will return to the classroom in less than two weeks. While many students are anxiously awaiting the time to be reunited with classmates and friends, others are a bit anxious at the thought of the new teachers, new classrooms, and new people by which they will be surrounded. No matter the side on which your students lean, Highland Schools’ Open House is a great event that each family in the district won’t want to miss.
Administrators from each of our buildings on campus look forward to the hallways being filled with people at Open House. The district’s superintendent, Jeremy Lewis, says that this event is beneficial to all students, especially those transitioning from one building to another and those that are new to the district. “It helps students become more familiar with the buildings, names, and faces that they will see once classes begin. They will be better prepared for the first day.” Lewis looks forward to the upcoming school year.
“I am excited for what our students and teachers will bring to the district this year. We’re ready for everyone to be back and to have another great year.” He encourages all families to attend Open House and participate in the activities surrounding the event. “It’s a great time for students to get schedules, meet new people, and get acclimated to new surroundings.”
Following the building events, the Highland High School Student Council is sponsoring a community movie on the lawn of Rebel Memorial Field. Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, and friends! Follow along on our district social media and look for more movie details to follow in next week’s news. Open House – Thursday, August 11
