Fredrick L. “Fred” Keeler, 82, of New Castle, passed away Wed., Aug. 17, 2022 at Glen Oaks Health Campus in Indiana. He was born April 4, 1940 in Lawrence, Ind., son of the late Leonard and Delores Jean (Sachs) Keeler.
Fred worked for many years for a fan manufacturing facility in Mt. Comfort before working in the home improvement business and for Kroger Company in marketing. He also worked at Walmart in Ash Flat, Ark. after moving there in retirement. He was a member of the First Assembly of God in Greenfield, Ind.
Fred was an artist and musician. He enjoyed painting, sculpting, photography, and jewelry making. He also was a member of the Chubby Chiggers band in Arkansas where he played in many venues. He also enjoyed playing clown at different venues where he was well known.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Phyllis Keeler of New Castle, who he married July 26, 1986; daughters, Nora (Steve) Rust of New Castle, Kathy (Doug Parkison) Eldridge of Muncie, and Rebecca (Ken Akers) Rust of New Castle; grandchildren, Nicholas (Andrea) Rust of Richlands, NC; Rick A. (Jazztin) Blevins II of Indianapolis, Rachel (Keith) Rust Johnisee of Greenfield, Heather Eldridge of Muncie, and Trey Akers of New Castle, Ind.; great grandchildren, Isaiah, Gabriel, Jason, Malachi, Ava Mae, Noah, Aiden, Addilyn, and Emma; two sisters, Sandy Thompson of Hardy, Ark., and Sharon L. (Joseph) Black of Highland, Ark; and two nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Cletis Thompson.
Services were Aug. 21, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Steve Arnett officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Arcadia, Ind.
