Body found in vehicle
believed to be that of missing Izard County man

From the Izard County Sheriff’s Department
Oct. 16, at approximately 12:30 p.m., Izard County deputies were called to an area near Arkansas Highway 56 and the intersection of Larkin Road just West of Violet Hill. The call was in reference to a vehicle that was found in a wooded area approximately 100 yards off State Highway 56 along with the body of a deceased individual.
Upon arrival by deputies, it was discovered that the vehicle description and vehicle license plate matched the description of Mark Ellis’ vehicle. Mark was reported missing on September 15, 2022, in Izard County.
There were no signs of foul play. The investigation is ongoing pending identification and cause of death from the State Medical Examiner.
