The countdown is on for one of northeast Arkansas’ most anticipated summer traditions.
The 2026 Cave City Watermelon Festival returns tomorrow, July 23-25 at the Cave City Park, bringing three days of live entertainment, family activities, contests, food, carnival rides and, of course, some of the sweetest watermelons in the country.
Watermelons have already begun filling produce stands throughout Cave City, signaling that festival week has arrived. Each summer, thousands of visitors from across Arkansas and neighboring states travel to Cave City to celebrate the community’s rich watermelon-growing heritage.
Thanks to the hard work of the Cave City Watermelon Festival Committee, local growers, volunteers and sponsors, the annual festival continues to grow. Even after the community endured a devastating EF-4 tornado just four months before last year’s event, organizers pressed forward, drawing impressive crowds and demonstrating the resilience and spirit that have become hallmarks of the festival.
This year’s celebration promises another memorable weekend with new attractions, returning favorites and nationally known entertainment.
Among the new additions is the inaugural Trenton Morgan Steak and Chicken Wing Cook-Off, which is expected to become a favorite for both competitors and festivalgoers. The steak competition will award a $500 grand prize, while first through third-place winners in multiple divisions will receive cash prizes.
Festival organizers have also added a trolley service to help visitors navigate the busy weekend and ease traffic throughout the park.
Visitors will also find dozens of vendors offering handmade goods, unique merchandise and festival favorites, along with a wide selection of food trucks serving everything from barbecue and funnel cakes to specialty treats. Johnson Brothers Carnival will once again provide rides and attractions for children throughout the weekend.
Live entertainment has long been one of the festival’s biggest draws, and this year’s lineup features a mix of nationally recognized performers and local talent.
MEET THE HEADLINERS
Friday night’s headliner is Confederate Railroad, which takes the stage at 8:30 p.m. Known for blending Southern rock and traditional country, the band rose to national prominence in the early 1990s with hits including “Jesus and Mama,” “Queen of Memphis,” “Trashy Women” and “Daddy Never Was the Cadillac Kind.” The group has sold more than five million albums and continues to perform across the country.
Saturday night’s headline concert belongs to country music favorite Sammy Kershaw, who takes the stage at 8:30 p.m. Kershaw helped define traditional country music during the 1990s with chart-topping hits including “She Don’t Know She’s Beautiful,” “Queen of My Double Wide Trailer,” “Cadillac Style,” “Love of My Life,” and “National Working Woman’s Holiday.” A Grammy-nominated artist, Kershaw has earned three platinum and six gold albums during a career spanning more than three decades.
Festival goers will also enjoy performances from local favorites, including crowd favorite Rockin’ Luke Stroud, along with Cave City’s “Sweetest Voice” talent competition and numerous performances throughout the weekend on the festival stages.
Whether visitors come for the music, contests, carnival, shopping, food or famous Cave City watermelons, organizers encourage everyone to spend the weekend enjoying everything the festival has to offer.
Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and settle in for an evening of live music while enjoying food from local vendors and food trucks.
The festival remains free to attend thanks to the generous support of area sponsors, volunteers and the many individuals who work throughout the year to make the event possible.
