The Fulton County Spelling Bee was held in Viola on Jan. 16-17. Contestants from Mammoth Spring, Salem and Viola competed for the top spot. It was an exciting competition between students from fourth through eighth grade, finding the top two spellers. Highland Band member Lane Evans. Highland High School Band’s Lane Evans was recently named to the First Band First Chair for the All-Region Band. This mean’s Lane is rated the best trumpet player in the region. He often performs Taps at local veterans services. Ozarka College recently announced that 120 students have been named to the President’s List and 57 students have been named to the Provost’s List for the Fall 2024 semester. Salem School District will provide a place and time for Precise Contractors to present apprenticeship information to Salem High School seniors.
