Two local anglers decided at the last minute on Sept. 9 to compete in the Last Batesville Bassmasters Club tournament at Greers Ferry Lake on Sept. 10.Kyle Herring and Justin Jones said they went in completely blind and were able to put a decent bag together, finishing third by less than a pound.Both Herring and Jones are from Hardy, Arkansas and are sponsored by Rox Outfitters in Highland.
Four area fishing teams competed last week in the Abu Garcia Bassmaster High School Championship presented by Academy Sports and Outdoors at Lake Hartwell in Anderson, South Carolina. The smallmouth bass are making a great target on the cool waters of the Spring River in northeast Arkansas.
