The Cave City Watermelon Festival has revealed its 2023schedule, beginning Thursday, July 27.On Thursday at 5:30p.m., the festival opens with a kiddie parade through the park. Ages12 and under can decorate their bikes, tricycles, scooters and wagons for the parade. On Friday, July 28,there will be free activities all day in the park. The day will begin at 8a.m. with a kids’ fishing derby, which will be followed by a wiffle ball tournament for multiple age groups. And then from 10:30a.m. – 12:30 p.m., kids can either play in the free bounce houses and waterslides or try their hand at the new mobile video game unit! There will also be a food truck war in the park from 11 a.m. – 1p.m. on Friday. Food vendors will be serving up festival treats and adults will be able to vote for their favor-ite vendor. The winner gets to set up for free! Saturday, July 29 will kick off at 7 a.m. with the Melon Dash 5K,which will be followed by a pancake breakfast and plenty of other activities throughout the day. “Friends of the Festival” will launch some-time in mid-July. Local sponsors will give out tickets at their businesses, based on the customer’s purchases. Those tickets will be worth cash during the festival. Numbers will be drawn Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. On Saturday, the grand prize will be$1,000! You must be present to win; more details will be announced in July.
