Alicia McBryde, a local author and and therapist held a book signing on Aug. 12 at the Ozark Classic Craft Mall in Hardy for her new book Odd Duck. McBryde signed copies of her book and offered it for sell to patrons of the mall.
Alicia McBryde has been a therapist in the area for 27 years. In her book, she shares her knowledge and expertise for both the parent and the professional who spends their time with children who wants to be more knowledgeable about Atypical behaviors.
Odd Duck Syndrome is an unofficial disorder used to describe atypical behaviors in children. Atypical behaviors are those that are not “normal” compared to children of the same age. Knowledge and understanding are powerful tools. Alicia McBryde hopes to share some of the knowledge she has gained through the years to help other professionals or parents identify abnormal behaviors in children. This may positively change the future of these children and help make a difference. McBryde is Highland High School graduate and a1996 graduate of the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, with a degree in occupational therapy. She worked for over two decades in various capacities within her field, including outpatient pediatric clinics, daycares, schools, hospitals and long term care facilities.
In 2005 she opened McBryde Therapy OPS. A pediatric outpatient clinic in Ash Flat providing all therapy types as well as being contracted with two daycare facilities in the area.
