PRESS RELEASE FROM SHARP COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

On Sept. 15, 2023, Members of the Sharp County Sheriff’s Office, Third and 16th Judicial Drug Task Force,Highland Police Department, Cherokee Village Police Department and the Cave City Police Department executed search warrants at three different residences in Sharp County. The search warrants followed several investigations over the course of several months. 

Upon searching these residences, approximately 20 pounds of marijuana, 7.6 grams of Morphine and  Clonazepam, a gram of Methamphetamine, and nearly a gram of Oxycodone along with 2 firearms were seized . 

A total of six arrests were made after the execution of the search warrants were complete.  Several other investigations are ongoing and further arrests are expected to be made following the execution of multiple search warrants. 

Sheriff Shane Russell stated the distribution of controlled  substances would not be tolerated. He also stated for anyone violating drug laws or associated with anyone violating drug laws in Sharp County, “We will find you and you will be caught and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law!” the sheriff explained. 

The names of those arrested are being withheld pending the completion of the investigation as other arrests could potentially be connected to these individuals.
