Cherokee Village Animal Control’s recently completed dog facility. The new state of the art facility will protect the dogs at the shelter from heat and cold for many years.

The new dog facility at Cherokee Village Animal Control  was finished just in the nick of time before cold weather set in.

The staff of Megan Mansfield, ACO  and Brendan Medlock, AC Assistant were moving beds, new stainless steel water buckets and food dishes on Jan. 5, and then….the very excited dogs were moved in the cold and rain so they could be set to beat the cold. .

Among the best features of the new facility include: their home is warm,   the walk way up is level and dry even after the rain. It was not yet finished in the photo. It is designed for ease of cleaning with an attached hose reel system.  Each dog has a bed. Due to that ease of cleaning, while one person is cleaning, one person has time to walk each dog around the spacious grounds, most of them off leash. They loved that freedom.

A future post will allow the CVAC  to thank the many people responsible for the new facility. An open house will also be planned with a public walk through opportunity.

The public is always welcome to come out and view any of the facility’s adoptable animals. It is always advised to call before coming as the staff is often out of the office working with the animals or doing pick ups in the community They can be reached at 870 994-4445.
