The Highland Elks Lodge’s Hearts with Darts will be hosting a chili- cookoff. The event is to raise money for the Cornerstone Church. It will be held on March 16 at 3 p.m. at the Copper Feather in Cherokee Village. First place winner will get $60, second place $40 and best cornbread will get $30.
The entry fee is $10 and $10 to taste test the chili and cornbread and place a vote. For $20 participants can taste test, vote, and eat everything that will be provided.
Entrants may pay an additional $10 to eat.
Entrants are asked to arrive early. The Cornerstone Church does a lot for the community. They put on youth camps, help recovering addicts, put on a dinner every week, and cook for everyone on Thanksgiving and give out Christmas gifts to the less fortunate. They are currently looking for a larger building to accommodate the growing congregation.
Due to the small size of the church, they are forced to have three separate services every Sunday.
