As schools prepare for the 2025-26 school year, open houses and other events are set for the upcoming weeks. There are also several back pack or school supply events liste

Below is a list for our local districts. 

Highland 

First Day of School for all grades but kindergarten is Mon., Aug. 11.

Kindergarten returns on Wed. Aug. 13

Cherokee Elementary School: Thur., Aug. 7 from 4–6 p.m.

Highland Middle School: Thur., Aug. 7 from 4:30–6:30 p.m.

Highland High School: Thursday, August 7 from 5 -7 p.m.

Ninth Grade Orientation will be held during Open House at 6 p.m.

Cave City 

First day of school is Wed., Aug. 13.

New student registration will be held all day on July 30.

Pre-registration for grades six through 12th will be held all day on Aug. 4 -5.

Open House will be held for all schools on Aug. 7 beginning at 2 p.m. 

Salem 

The first day of school is Wed. Aug. 13. Open House will be held on Aug., 7 at both campuses. 

A back-to-school immunization clinic will be held on July 29 from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Fulton County Health Department, located at 510 South Main Street in Salem. Call 870-895-3000 for an appointment, but walk-ins are welcome. 

New Student Registration will be held at both campuses on July 31 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Mammoth Spring

First day of School is Thurs., Aug. 14.

Open House will be held on Tue. Aug. 12 from 5-7 p.m. 

Seventh Grade Orientation will be held on Tue. Aug. 12 at 6:30 p.m.
