The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has set our sights on building a flagship recreational shooting sports facility in Northwest Arkansas. In order for us to build the type of facility we know Arkansas recreational shooters want, we need your help in finding the ideal location to build the facility. The Commission is searching for a site that’s flat, at least 150 acres, near existing Northwest Arkansas population centers and adjacent to major roadways to ensure the range is accessible to Northwest Arkansas residents. The ideal locations will be oriented North/Northeast to provide the best shooting conditions and also have public utilities on site or nearby.
More than half a million Arkansans enjoy recreational shooting, and interest in shooting sports continues to climb. Public participation has increased by more than 28 percent since 2000, with the largest growth being women and youth. The Northwest Arkansas population is also growing, but Northwest Arkansas recreational shooters lack available public access. That’s why the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is looking to partner with Northwest Arkansas communities, landowners and industry to provide a first-class shooting sports complex, with plans to build 9 trap fields, 5 skeet fields, a sporting clays course, pistol range, rifle range and known-distance and 3D archery courses–with a range of amenities that would make this site a destination for special events and tournaments.
With your help, we can secure a location to build a facility that is a premier shooting sports facility in the region and drives tremendous economic and recreational impact.
If you know an ideal site for this range, know someone that may or even if you just have questions, we encourage you to share your information with us.
