2024 Cave City Athletic Hall of Fame KO James Distinguished Service Award Winner Alan Landers

Cave City School District honored the Cave City 2000 Boys Basketball State Runner-up team for the 25th anniversary of their season. Also inducted into the Cave City Athletic Hall of Fame’s Class of 2025 were  the four new inductees. Pictured from left are:  Aaron James 1995;  Eddie Bradley, 1980; Coach Russell Fowler; and Alan Landers (not pictured) – Distinguished Service Award.

Eddie Bradley was a 2 year started from 1978 to 1980 for the Caveman. He earned All-Conference and All-District honors both years and was voted MVP of the Conference by the Cavemen. It is also believed the Bradley was only the second Caveman at the time to earn a selection to the Arkansas State High School Hall of Fame. He played 2 years at Central Baptist College in Conway and 2 years Ouachita Baptist University where he was a two-year letterman and played in the 1984 Arkansas College All-star game. Eddie has had a distinguished career for the past 40 years as a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Arkansas.

Aaron James, the smoothest player of the 1994 Cave City Boys Basketball team, helped the Cavemen to a 32 win season. That season concluded with the Cavemen being the winners of both Conference and District. Aaron’s lean build and athletic ability allowed him to dunk the ball any way you wanted, but he had a silky smooth left handed shot that made him a terror to opposing teams. Aaron was also a member of a military. In November of 1995 Aaron joined the Army National Guard where he served in Kuwait in 1999, Egypt in 2002 and Iraq in 2004.  Aaron embodies everything a great athlete, soldier, and hero this school has ever known.

Coach Russell Fowler has coached for a total of 35 years, 30 of which were here at Cave City High School. In his 35 years he has won 1010 games, 12 district and conference titles with 17 regional appearances, had 9 State Tournament appearances, 4 Final Four appearances, and a State Runner-up title in 2010. Coach Fowler is loved by players as many of them have said that he wouldn’t accept anything less than their best efforts. As a Coach he will always be remembered for the toughness, defensive effort, the grit and competitiveness of all his teams. He is elected to the Hall of Fame as Donne of the longest tenured and winningest coach of all time.

Alan Landers is being inducted as this year KO James Distinguished Service Award. Alan would tell you his wife Rita deserves as much credit for this award as he does for traveling with him and as she helped him with the equipment and keeping stats for games. Since 2005 Alan has broadcast almost all of our away basketball games. Those games included many regional and state tournaments, some of which represented the best basketball memories of the last 20 years. Alan has done PA work for the basketball team since 2000 and football PA work since 2004. The school has also benefited from Alan’s 33 years of service as a School Bus Driver.
