Sheriff Shane Russell said a man wanted for attempted murder in South Carolina was apprehended just after 1 p.m. today in Ozark Acres.

The sheriff said his department was notified around 12:10 p.m. by the United States Marshals Service that 23-year-old Mickey Ahititt Naphoxay was wanted in Union, South Carolina, on an attempted murder charge from 2022.

The Marshals advised the sheriff’s department that the subject was believed to be hiding in a camper in the Ozark Acres area of Sharp County.

The U.S. Marshals located Naphoxay around 1:40 p.m. and took him into custody, transporting him to the Sharp County Detention Center, where he is currently being held pending extradition back to South Carolina.

Sheriff Russell said, “The Sharp County Sheriff’s Office appreciates the cooperation and assistance of the United States Marshals Service in the safe apprehension of this fugitive.”

Naphoxay was originally arrested on March 3, 2022 in connection with a shooting that happened at the South Hills Sports Complex in Union. He was charged with attempted murder in the shooting of 18-year-old Zachary Rogers. 18-year-old Patrick Greer Williams, also of Union was charged with accessory after the fact of a felony in the case.
