Fulton County Spelling Bee winners announced
The Fulton County Spelling Bee was held in Viola on Jan. 16-17. Contestants from Mammoth Spring, Salem and Viola competed for the top spot. It was an exciting competition between students from fourth through eighth grade, finding the top two spellers. Bateman named Middle Level Counselor of the Year
Salem School District counselor Ashley Bateman was recently recognized as the North Central Region of Arkansas, Middle Level Counselor of the Year 2024-25 by the Arkansas School Counselor Association.
Highland Band student earns First Band, First Chair honors for All-Region Band
Highland Band member Lane Evans. Highland High School Band’s Lane Evans was recently named to the First Band First Chair for the All-Region Band. This mean’s Lane is rated the best trumpet player in the region. He often performs Taps at local veterans services. When the SRC gets the final results of the band members placement in the All-Region band from the directors, we will publish those as well.
Grants available from Twin Lakes Community Foundation for area non-profit organizations
Grants are available for local nonprofits from the Twin Lakes Community Foundation. Nonprofit organizations in Fulton, Izard, Baxter and Marion counties can go to arcf.org/givingtree beginning January 10 to apply online for Giving Tree grants through Twin Lakes Community Foundation, an affiliate of Arkansas Community Foundation. Ozarka College announces President and Provost’s Lists
Ozarka College recently announced that 120 students have been named to the President’s List and 57 students have been named to the Provost’s List for the Fall 2024 semester.
