DAR sponsors Valentine’s Day Craze

Due to inclement weather, Strawberry River Chapter met via zoom Feb. 4 with16 members present. Following the opening ritual, delegates we reelected to the up-coming March State Conference. Cynthia Clow-Elliott, chapter registrar and state VIS co-chair, presented a program regarding updates to the state DAR website. The chapter is sponsoring the third annual Valentine’s Day Craze. Five members and two HODARS gathered to assemble bags of goodies. Each bag has a Valentine bookmark and sweets; bags for veterans also included a stuffed animal. These were delivered to over 400 residents of the six nursing/rehab centers in the counties of Fulton, Izard, and Sharp served by our chapter. Strawberry River is a small chapter covering Sharp, Izard, and Fulton Counties. We work to fulfill the three objectives of DAR which are Education, Historic Preservation, and Patriotism as established in1890 by our founding members. Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible for membership.
